Our Mission
Established in 1956, NCSPA seeks to promote sound public policy relating to the use of corrugated steel drainage structures in private and public construction. It collects and distributes technical information; assists public and private agencies in the formulation of specifications and designs; encourages greater knowledge of corrugated steel pipe’s benefits and uses among college engineering students; and conducts seminars to increase awareness of the product and its application among specifiers.
Committees
The NCSPA committee system addresses many areas of vital concern to NCSPA members. Two committees work under the direction of the NCSPA Board of Directors. The Technical Advisory Committee reviews specifications and develops technical information on corrugated steel pipe. The Product Promotion Committee develops educational and promotional resources for the NCSPA.
Publications
The basic technical books for this industry were written by panels of NCSPA members. The new Corrugated Steel Pipe Design Manual includes design information for CSP drainage structures, storm sewers and underground detention systems. The “blue book”, Modern Sewer Design, is distributed without charge to college classes at which NCSPA regional engineers make presentations and is sold through NCSPA to members and non-members. The Handbook of Steel Drainage and Highway Construction Products is known as the “green book.”
NCSPA has published information on service-life cost analysis, design data sheets, drainage technology bulletins, installation manuals and reports on corrugated steel pipe’s durability and hydraulic characteristics for both round and pipe arch.
The Pipe Line is issued to more than 3,000 engineers in private practice, with government agencies, and in college engineering schools. Members receive the NCSPA News and Focus on Corrugations issued by the chief engineer.
NCSPA stages a series of seminars for practicing engineers on the use of corrugated steel pipe systems for storm water management. Sessions on production methods, compliance with federal and state regulations governing the workplace, and new fabricating techniques are also presented for the NCSPA membership.
