Located in the Malatya area of east Turkey, an underpass for a railway line was in desperate need of renovation. In its current state, the underpass was not suitable for any kind of vehicle traffic. Because of its crucial role in the transportation of commercial precious metals and international rail transport, this railway line was unable to be shut down for any amount of time.
The original renovation plan included using reinforced concrete as an underpass solution but, because of concrete’s long lead times and long construction times, this solution was not suitable. The administration reached out to ViaCon Turkey for help in finding a quick solution that would give them the strength needed with as little downtime as possible.
As a result of the dedication of the ViaCon Turkey team, the largest closed section SuperCor solution made its way into the world! After its acceptance by the project administration the project began! The excavation, placement of the culvert and filling operations were completed after only 4 days and the railway line was successfully reopened to traffic!
