In 2017, Racetrac Petroleum implemented a new company concept in Douglas County, GA known as a convenience stop (otherwise known as a truck stop). This site is located on Interstate 20 which runs from South Carolina to California. The sites are larger than 
the traditional gas stations so the stormwater treatment and storage is more involved.
This site implemented roughly 1400 feet of 84”, 14 gauge, 5” x 1” perforated aluminized steel type II for detention and infiltration. The county considers gas stations “hot spots” so the runoff must be treated for water quality before it is detained and infiltrated. Two CMP sand filters were designed to treat the stormwater before it entered the detention system. Both filters consisted of an 84”, 14 gauge sedimentation chamber and a 72”, 14 gauge filtration chamber.
This was a very sought after project and multiple detention competitors designed alternate systems to replace the detention and filters but none were price competitive. The project was designed by LeCraw Engineering with the help of Southeast Culvert. It was very successful & completed in 2017.
