Pacific Corrugated Pipe Co. (PCP) implemented a variety of actions based on Tier II treatment requirements administered by the Department of Environmental Quality. PCP installed an Electrocoagulation (EC) Stormwater Treatment System at their manufacturing facility. The Design parameters of the EC system allowed for the discharge of clean water.
The plans called for the use of an existing detention system from the North property for water storage ready for treatment. The total water inflow area on the property is
approximately 7.3 acres with 28.7% of impervious grounds. The stormwater comes by collection of 16 existing catch basins. Hydro CAD modeling output resulted in a 100GPM water removal requirement. These factors necessitated the design of PCP’s secondary detention system.
The new detention system consists of 2-140’ runs of 78”.079 5×1 Polymer coated CSP with a 30”equalizer. In order to achieve watertight joints PCP chose to use bolted rolled angle flange joints with neoprene rubber gaskets. A resistance to uplift forces was required to avoid pipe flotation. This was due to the high water table level during winter months in Eugene Oregon. Approximately 100,000 lbs of eco blocks were used to anchor the system to the trench bottom with 5/8” steel braided cables.
