Hyalite Engineers needed assistance in finding a cost effective alternative to a concrete box culvert crossing for the Rock Creek Golf Club located near Coeur D’Alene, ID. Hyalite Engineers reached out to TrueNorth Steel to help them ensure that the golfers were able to safely cross Loffs Bay Road.
After assessing the location and the project specs, TrueNorth decided that installing a 14’ 10” span by 14’ rise structural plate pipe as an underpass was the best course of action to allow for safe crossing of the busy golf club road. An added plus to using the plate pipe was that the installation did not require any large equipment to assemble. 84 linear feet of underpass was installed and capped with concrete headwalls and safety railing. In addition, a paved invert with curbing was designed to allow safe passage for the golf carts as well.
In the end the contractor/owner and engineers of the project were very pleased with the outcome and the time frame that everything was completed in.
