By: Southeast Culvert

This project was originally designed as a plastic chamber infiltration system. plastic chamber infiltration systemSoutheast Culvert was asked to propose a value engineered option so, working with site constraints, a 60″, 16 gauge aluminized perforated system was proposed. The footprint and cost were reduced by roughly 30 percent. The county arborist was adamant that no detention was to be installed under islands in the parking lot in order to protect root growth so quite a bit of fabrication was required. The water quality volume was directed into specific areas of the system where weirs were fabricated to detain that volume. Those areas were wrapped with a geotextile so that the heavy sediments and debris were confined for future maintenance purposes. The county granted 80% TSS for these measures. The outlet control structure was also integrated into the system thus eliminating a larger concrete structure.
